Асоциация на индустриалния капитал в България

The Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association (BICA) was founded in 1996. According to the Bulgarian Council of Ministers’ Decisions from October 2004 and December 2007, BICA was acknowledged to be a representative at national level employers’ organisation. Conceived as a union of the biggest privatization funds in Bulgaria, today BICA works actively for sustainable development, high standards of corporate governance and corporate social responsibility, general interest services quality improvement, increase of the competitiveness and export and investments orientation of the Bulgarian industry.

Currently, the Association represents more than 50 holding and investment companies, 15 branch chambers, 1200 industrial enterprises, employing altogether more than 170 000 people. BICA has developed widespread network of regional structures, covering more than 60 Bulgarian municipalities.

The Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association stands for the positions of its members, representing them in its relations with the state and public bodies in order to promote favourable business environment and to enhance the competitiveness and the successful performance of the Bulgarian business at the global marketplace.     

The Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association has played active role in the process of elaboration of the National Strategic Reference Framework and the relative operational programmes and national plans, having its positions and proposals incorporated into the documents quite often, especially those concerning the human resources development policies, competitiveness improvement and strengthening of the administrative capacity of the social partners.       

BICA has major achievements in the area of business environment improvement – namely successful implementation of a set of measures for cutting the administrative burden, defining priority sectors of the Bulgarian economy, capital market acceleration, etc. A significant part of the Association’s main visions has been incorporated in the Pact for Social and Economic Development of Bulgaria to 2009 – especially in the points concerning tax and social securities cut and business climate improvement.

As a voice of the Bulgarian listed companies, BICA implements comprehensive policy for promoting the issuers. Based on its strong positive reputation and substantial expert capacity, the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association initiates numerous meetings and discussions, provides statements and visions on various issues and cases concerning the capital market development, works in close co-operation with the Financial Supervision Commission, Bulgarian Stock Exchange, Central Depository, Ministry of Finance, Economic Policy Commission and Budget and Finance Commission of the National Assembly, state agencies, etc. 

The Association is successfully expanding its co-operation with eminent international institutions and organisations. BICA is a member of the International Labor Organisation. The Association has its representatives in the European Economic and Social Committee, having the possibilities to express its vision on issues, related to the economic and social policy of the Union and to play a role in the decision making process in the European Union.           

The Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association participates in the European Social Fund meetings and the Ad-Hoc Group to the ESF debates, supporting the social partners and providing its members with comprehensive information on the opportunities for them to submit project applications for funding by the ESF.      

The accession of BICA as a full-fledged member of the EuropeanIssuers – European union of organisations of listed companies and the having of a seat in the Board of Directors, once again acknowledges the excellent work, performed by the Association and its constructive, pragmatic and balanced positions for capital markets development.
